The ChromaShare web server hosts a WS-1 compliant web service interface which exposes a wide array of functionality and data, including palettes, images and sample requests. The ChromaShare server is located in a purpose built colocation facility in Manchester, UK. The data centre provides high levels of physical security, complete 24 hour data backup, redundant UPS power systems and has achieved carbon neutral certification.

The ChromaShare web services can be accessed directly by third parties using valid account credentials and SSL is supported for improved security 'over the wire'. This provides a very flexible platform for integration with other systems, or the development of bespoke colour solutions. ChromaShare applications such as the SmartClient or CS Audit client consume the same web service back-end.

In addition to providing a unified and functionally rich back-end for third-party systems and desktop applications, ChromaShare web services also offer many possibilities for enhancing web applications. For example, using ChromaShare web services it's easy to make your palettes and images available for viewing online, or allow users to search for colours in your library.

Some web applications require accurate colour viewing, which demands some form of screen calibration. ChromaShare offers a toolbar product for Internet Explorer which allows users to calibrate their screens using a colour sensor right in the browser.
